Always

Sometimes I hear wild, ecstatic music;
Sometimes I prefer a whispered hum.
Sometimes ocean waves are roaring loudly;
Sometimes I'm a stream's untroubled strum.
Sometimes I'm a flame of brave emotions;
Sometimes I'm a cloud of silent doubt.
Sometimes I'm a highway of commotion;
Sometimes I'm a smooth, untrodden route.

And yet, if I could live a thousand lifetimes,
I would know with utmost certainty,
That if I were to add up all my sometimes,
They'd fall short of what you mean to me.

And it's really quite simple, you see:
Always is the word I choose; sometimes just won't do.
You're the dearest, truest part of me.
Always is the word which best conveys my love for you.

Sometimes I hear laughter in a rainstorm;
Sometimes I prefer a muted mist.
Sometimes I seek solace in a sermon;
Sometimes it's a hymn I can't resist.
Sometimes I'm enthralled by shifting colors;
Sometimes on a sunset swirl I glide.
Sometimes a canyon grand makes me feel smaller;
Sometimes my thoughts are high and deep and wide.

Through winter, spring, summer and fall days,
I promise I will love you always.
