Whatever You Want Me to Be

Find me here, sitting in the dark,
Waiting for the morning sun.
Find me here, even though I feel so far;
Affirm You'll finish what You have begun.

Find me when I stray,
And when my heart is yearning
For a better day,
Embers barely even burning.

Take this broken man;
This windswept wanderer.
Take this brief lifespan,
This wistful ponderer.
Tho you know I'm prone to deflection,
Change my heart till I become a reflection
Of You, only You;
Restore me, renew
What's left of me;
The best of me
Is whatever You want me to be.

Break my will; shatter every plan
Whenever I yield to my pride.
Have Your way; make of this man
A temple where You can abide.

Lift me to great heights
Beyond dreams transitory.
Touch my scaly eyes
That I might behold Your glory.

Take this broken man;
This windswept wanderer.
Take this brief lifespan,
This wistful ponderer.
Tho you know I'm prone to deflection,
Change my heart till I become a reflection
Of You, only You;
Restore me, renew
What's left of me;
The best of me
Is whatever You want me to be.

I long to be whatever You want me to be.
