Breathe Your Air

The headlines are at it again tonight.
Pundit parrots rage; they love to squawk and trill.
Fear is now in vogue; keep your hopes airtight.
Oxygen is dangerous, they say; sit still.

I wanna breathe your air.
Have you got some to spare?
Say when, say where; I'll be there.
I'll drop my mask, I swear,
And leave this stale nowhere.
I wanna breathe your air.

Yeah, I wanna dance like I used to dance,
Heedless of the critics' loose, elitist tongues.
When the music plays, let it drown their can'ts.
Find the truth; inhale it deep into my lungs.

I wanna breathe your air.
Have you got some to spare?
Say when, say where; I'll be there.
I'll drop my mask, I swear,
And leave this stale nowhere.
I wanna breathe your air.

Will I live my life, or merely put it on hold?
Isn't that really just a slow death?
Before you know it, they'll make you wear a blindfold,
Yeah, and regulate your every breath.

Now, I am not promoting carelessness;
"Love your neighbor as yourself" still stands.
But they've shut down my neighbor's business;
Should I hide behind my mask and wash my hands?

I wanna breathe your air.
Have you got some to spare?
Say when, say where; I'll be there.
I'll drop my mask, I swear,
And leave this stale nowhere.
I wanna breathe your air.
