You cannot silence my soul;
Its song springs forth
And soars upon the wind
When daylight yields
To restless, lonely night.
You cannot harness the hope
That takes my hand
And leads me like a friend
From darkness thick
To unobstructed light.
In realms of blissful peace I hide;
My winged spirit fears no chains.
I’ll falter not, for I reside
Where freedom draped in mercy reigns.
You cannot imprison my faith.
It knows no wall
It cannot swiftly breach;
It rests where earthly powers
Can do no harm.
You cannot vanquish a love
That dwells where fear
And force can never reach,
That keeps my spirit
Safe within its arms.
In realms of blissful peace I hide;
My winged spirit fears no chains.
I’ll falter not, for I reside
Where freedom draped in mercy reigns.
You cannot dismantle the truth;
You might as well
Attempt to tear apart
The heav’n unseen
For which I daily yearn.
You cannot extinguish the flame,
The blessed assurance
Deep within my heart.
Unwav’ringly
Forever it shall burn.
In realms of blissful peace I hide;
My winged spirit fears no chains.
I’ll falter not, for I reside
Where freedom draped in mercy reigns.
