I'm kicking off my sandals;
I'm casting off my shirt
And lounging between two carefree palm trees.
This hammock lulls and dandles;
It renders me inert
Till dreams descend and mingle with the breeze.
And I'm half-awake, or so it seems,
Drifting between my sweetest dreams
And this temporal, earthly existence.
And I soar until I'm far away.
I am there, and yet I'm here today,
Enthralled and awed by the dwindling distance.
I see a distant shoreline;
I see a crystal sea.
Suddenly a melody sails my way.
Angels glide in the sunshine,
Dancing elatedly,
Singing, beckoning me to fly away.
And I'm half-awake, or so it seems,
Drifting between my sweetest dreams
And this temporal, earthly existence.
And I soar until I'm far away.
I am there, and yet I'm here today,
Enthralled and awed by the dwindling distance.
From a luminous, ethereal plane
I see myself in my hammock, sleeping by the sea.
Heaven kisses the earth, and I can't contain
This boundless joy that has set my restless spirit free.
And I'm half-awake, or so it seems,
Drifting between my sweetest dreams
And this temporal, earthly existence.
And I soar until I'm far away.
I am there, and yet I'm here today,
Enthralled and awed by the dwindling distance.
