Sonnet 21: Bright Morning Star

Morning Star, brightest of lights in the sky,
Illuminate me with your sparkling rays.
Embrace me, now, O Dayspring from on high;
Commune with me, and I will sing your praise.
Without you the night is an endless age,
A restless eon waiting for the dawn;
And I become an actor on the stage
Of hopes discarded in a dream bygone.
But in your gaze, in your resplendent light,
My meaninglessness melts; I am revived.
My soul escapes the cold, relentless night;
Earth finds its heaven, nevermore deprived
Of perfect love--and oh, that love is mine!
All stars will fade, but you will always shine.
