I don't want to make it on my own.
If I ever attempt it, dethrone
If I ever attempt it, dethrone
My heart of stone, my pride, my vanity.
I'm nothing without you, Lord; refashion me.
All I see in me for all you say I'll be;
And by faith I'll seek what I will someday see.
Gather the scattered parts of me
That I have squandered needlessly.
Can you restore the pieces that fit together?
If you can, Lord, reconstruct me; and tether
My heart to your limitless, innovative love.
My identity is not self-made;
All my efforts to grow up will fade.
But if I trust the potter's gentle hands
I will become a man who understands
That you salvage broken things and make them new.
I am but a set of fragments without you.
Gather the scattered parts of me
That I have squandered needlessly.
Can you restore the pieces that fit together?
If you can, Lord, reconstruct me; and tether
My heart to your limitless, innovative love.
All I see in me for all you say I'll be;
And by faith I'll seek what I will someday see.
