The Lingering Light of Love

I refuse to believe I've been misled,
But this phase feels like an ending.
Why is my pathway descending?

I see a shadowy valley ahead.
A dark voice is calling my name;
It's a cold and sinister flame.

But I will not fear; I will not doubt.
I will set my mind on things above.
In dark vales forlorn or moments devout
I'll trust the lingering light of love.

Storm clouds gather; their breath obscures the sun.
Are they conspiring against me?
Where I am headed I can't see.

There's that voice again! "Soon you'll come undone!"
I will press on; I won't heed it;
My hopes remain undefeated.

And I will not fear; I will not doubt.
I will set my mind on things above.
In dark vales forlorn or moments devout
I'll trust the lingering light of love.

When cloudy feelings from a realm unseen,
Faithless fears, dark doubts, and thoughts unclean
Invade me and threaten me, I need not surrender;
The Lord is my light, my salvation, my defender.

And I will not fear; I will not doubt.
I will set my mind on things above.
In dark vales forlorn or moments devout
I'll trust the lingering light of love.
